Introduction

FieldTask is the mobile app for collecting data in the field. It lets enumerators capture survey responses on Android devices, even with limited or no connectivity, and then syncs results back to the Smap Server when a connection is available.

Use FieldTask when you need robust offline collection, device-native features, or work in low-connectivity environments. Typical use cases include household surveys, facility assessments, monitoring visits, inspections, and rapid response data collection.

FieldTask differs from webForms in a few key ways:

• FieldTask is built for mobile, offline-first data capture; webForms is browser-based and best for online or office-based entry.

• FieldTask supports device capabilities such as GPS, photos, barcode scanning, and signature capture; webForms also supports these capabilities is browser is a little less capable than a native Android app

• FieldTask is ideal for enumerators in the field; webForms is ideal for staff entering or reviewing data on a desktop.
